Install Notes for Oracle 10gAS (9.0.4) on United Linux

January 2nd, 2004 by Mark Rittman

Jon Mead just contacted me to let me know he’d successfully installed Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) on United Linux. Over to Jon;

I have successfully installed 10g AS on Linux (United Linux
distribution).  Attached is a document explaining the step (you
will also need the quick installation guide).

My initial thoughts are:

  • It worked (!!) with much less pain than you would have
    thought, I have previously tried to install both the DB and AS
    on Linux and there was much more messing around with make files
    during the installation, but this was fairly smooth.
  • The EM website works well now, I believe the implementation
    has changed.

I have not yet tried to configure all the components (reports,
disco etc) so as yet don’t know how easier that will be, or how it
will stack up.

For more details of the install steps, download Jon’s install notes.

    Hi Arshad,
    The Oracle online documentation http://otn.oracle.com/products/database/htmldb/howtos/howto_use9ir2ohs.html explains how to install HTMLDB on an Oracle 9i installation. Also note that you need to have patched Oracle 9i up to 9.2.0.4.
