March 28th, 2004 by Mark Rittman
There’s a useful couple of new articles on Orafaq by Saikat Goswami that are
worth taking a look at if you’re thinking about developing on the J2EE platform.
"Introduction to
Java Database Connectivity" discusses the different ways in which Java can
communicate with a database, and talks about the traditional different kinds of
drivers together with some sample code to illustrate some connection scenarios
"HTTP Basics,
Web Server, Servlet Container and the Java Servlet API" demystifies terms
such as HTTP, "servlet", "web server", "application server" and "servlet
container", giving the some background to the Java Servlet API that comes with
the J2EE SDK.
