News On The Forthcoming UKOUG BIRT SIG
January 12th, 2005 by Mark Rittman
Things are pretty busy at the moment, with a number of projects about to kick
off that use OWB and the new Business Intelligence 10g products. At the current
time I’m spending most nights away from home and I’ve got a number of personal
projects on the go, including writing an article for OTN on dashboards using
Discoverer "Drake" and Oracle Portal, trying to make a start on my 10g DBA
certification, getting to grips with the OWB Paris beta and working on the
agenda for the
upcoming UKOUG BIRT SIG. The latter is pretty much finalized now so I
thought it worth posting a few notes about this upcoming event.
If you’re based in the UK or Ireland and a UKOUG member then you might be
interested in our next
Business
Intelligence & Reporting Tools SIG event on February 3rd, to be held at the
Oracle City Office, London. Due to popular demand we’ve got a bit of an
Enterprise Planning & Budgeting theme this meeting, with a live product demo, a
talk by Oracle’s Mark Pesticcio (who’s been the technical lead on EPB "Early
Adopter" projects in the UK and Europe), a talk by Fred Dean on data entry
options for EPB, and an extended EPB Q&A with Oracle’s Paul Badger and a number
of Oracle partners (including SolStonePlus).
As well as the EPB presentations, Martin Cooper is giving a talk on Oracle
Data Hubs and data warehousing, and I’ll be giving an update on Oracle Business
Intelligence 10g and what’s coming with Oracle OLAP and AWM10g. If you’re
looking to come along, make sure you book a place as soon as possible as the
previous meetings have all filled up weeks beforehand. Otherwise look forward to
seeing some of you there early next month.
