New Oracle Business Intelligence 10g Training Resources
January 16th, 2005 by Mark Rittman
If you’re interested in evaluating
Oracle Business
Intelligence 10g, one thing you might have missed around the time of the
launch was the release of a number of new "Oracle By Example" training courses
on these new products.
Available over
at OTN, they cover the following topics:
-
Using the Oracle BI Spreadsheet Add-in -
Viewing Sales History Information Using OracleBI Discoverer Viewer -
Analyzing Sales History Information Using OracleBI Discoverer Plus
Relational -
Creating Business Intelligence Reports Using OracleBI Discoverer Plus OLAP
-
Creating a Business Intelligence Dashboard Using OracleBI Discovererer
Portlets -
Exploring the New Features of OracleBI Discoverer -
Develop Business Intelligence Objects using OracleBI Beans -
Develop Business Intelligence Applications using OracleBI Beans
The lessons use the
Oracle Business Intelligence samples that you can additionally download from
OTN, and take the form of simple steps and screenshots to walk you through
creating workbooks, analyzing data, building reports and so on. I’ve worked
through them myself as a starting point for putting some demos together, and
they’re a pretty comprehensive look at the new features.

I agree the ‘Oracle by Example’ training courses are fairly comprehensive and provide good content to the new features, which is ideal for novices and experienced Discoverer users. However, the content also highlights that Administrator has very minimal new developments, and this is one of the key areas that needs to be addressed. Perhaps Oracle are limiting client developments for Administrator and focusing on providing Administrator on the App Server. Hopefully, they will take note of the long list of Administrator requirements that I will provide them shortly, and that they are included in the next release.
