Odds and Ends

A few bookmarked articles that I’ve been meaning to clear out for a while.
- A nice article from Lucas Jellema on
using
DBMS_FREQUENT_ITEMSET for PL/SQL data mining - Intelligent Enterprise with a
sneak peek to Cognos 8, which features (like Discoverer Drake)
integrated relational and OLAP reporting. - "Ever download a framework and feel overwhelmed? Maybe there is a way
around that." asks Michael Feathers in
"Stunting a
Framework" - Chris Foot on
Devising a 10G Testing Strategy and the Anatomy of a 10G Data Warehouse. - Chris Foot again, this time with
an interview with an Interview with Data Warehouse DBA Jim Dojonovic - Tim Hall on the new
LOG ERRORS feature in 10g Release 2 - The
article submission page for the OTDUG Desktop Virtual Conference 2005 -
I’ve submitted a paper on Oracle OLAP performance tuning. - The article that Tom linked to on
personal qualities required for technology leaders - a very good
article, well worth reading. - Slashdot on
coding and roleplaying - is there a connection? (me - Yes, but then I
was a D&D fanatic in my teenage years…) - Eric Sink on
scalability - "On The Edge - The Spectacular
fall of Commodore" - new book on the rise and fall of Commodore, I’ve
got my copy on order. - Chris Webb’s BI Blog on
Excel 12 and Excel Services - now this is just scary… see also
these and
these links sent over by Julian earlier in the week. - … and finally,
the
funniest story I’ve heard for a while. Not safe for work etc. and not
for the easily shocked, but good nonetheless. I actually heard this one a
couple of years ago, lost the link and no-one believed me. Anyway, enjoy,
and I’ll be back in a few days. And at least you’re not Martin Hoyle.
