Blogger Meetup – UKOUG Conference, Tuesday November 14th

October 18th, 2006 by Mark Rittman

If you’re at the UKOUG Conference in Birmingham next month, and you’re one of the Oracle bloggers, we’re organizing a meetup on Tuesday, November 14th from around 8pm.

The venue will be All Bar One, in the Brindley complex next to the ICC; this is also the same venue that the UKOUG are using for the SIG volunteer drinks, so if you’re a volunteer, and a blogger, you can just shuffle across the pub with your drink around 9pm and take advantage of another free bar. This time though, my presentation is on the Tuesday, not the day after the blogger do, so I don’t have to worry about a hangover; however I think I’m due to chair Chris Leone’s BI keynote the next morning, so I’d better make sure I don’t wake up in a bin the next morning with a traffic cone on my head.

As usual, if you’d like to come along, add a comment so I can estimate numbers. We’re not going to book anything, so just turn up, and once again the UKOUG have offered to sponsor the evening (cheers!) so we should be able to get a few rounds and maybe order a bit of food. Doug Burns has agreed to keep order between 8.00pm and 9.00pm until the UKOUG event finishes, so he’s the one with the kitty and the big list of names on a clipboard.

[…] What can I say that Mark Rittman has not? Nothing really. […]

  2. Doug Burns Says:

Doug Burns has agreed to keep order …
    Surely some mistake?!?!

  3. Howard J. Rogers Says:

I shan’t of course be there in body, but if it were possible to hook-up my webcam for the night/morning/whatever, I’d send you all a cheery (or bleary, I suppose) hello. Except that on dial-up, you’d all be sloshed by the time the bits arrived.
Anyway: have a good one, and best wishes to all and sundry. Especially sundry. I still call blighty home, after all…

  4. Jeff Moss Says:

See you there…all bar one is a nice place…should be good.

  5. Tim Hall Says:

    I’ll be there!

  6. Doug Burns Says:

I hope you’ve got rid of that tan by then! ;-)

Maybe they let blogger newbies in ? Hey, I want a pint dangit..let me in ! :-)

[…] And if the 300+ sessions are not enough for you there is the networking sessions and the infamous blogger meet set for the first evening – details here entry rules apply (and I see a few have created blogs just to show up!) I guess any Oracle web presence counts in reality. Questions that might be answered include […]

  13. David Aldridge Says:

I shall sadly not be there, but I must insist that everyone have an extra beer or two at UKOUG’s expense in commemoration of my non-attendance.
Now when you say that Doug will be the one with the kitty I’m assuming that’s Flatcat we’re talking about?

  14. Doug Burns Says:

I think it’s important to point out that nothing has been decided regarding attendance of anyone other than myself and, frankly, if there isn’t a lot less bickering over the next couple of days, I’ll be attending alone.

  15. Doug Burns Says:

Okay, as an additional step after declaring your interest in attending, you may want to nominate one extra attendee.

  16. Niall Litchfield Says:

I’m intending to be there, I do feel a bit guilty given that i haven’t updated since August, but then when was the last time any of those small furry animals updated anything eh Doug?

  17. Doug Burns Says:

“I do feel a bit guilty given that i haven’t updated since August”
Okay, mate, I’ll help assuage your guilt by drinking your beer for you ;-)
