Hi Carl,

Fair point, I know certainly I've been writing about the new tools (BI EE etc) much more than the old ones - I guess this is mostly down to all the innovation happening with the new products, and most development with the old tools being around interoperability with the new ones.

You're right though in saying that there's still a lot of activity and project work around the traditional tools - by far the majority of the work I do is around Discoverer, OLAP, OWB etc and I doubt that'll change in the near future, if only because the difference in pricing in the two BI Suite editions. Certainly Oracle will tell anyone that listens that Discoverer, OWB etc are still products undergoing development, but I think it's inevitable that, when it comes to blogs, articles and so on, people are going to focus on what's new and the latest thing - doesn't mean the old tools aren't still relevant though.

regards

I'm amazed at how it seems these tools (oracle olap, oracle discoverer, oracle warehouse builder) have been simply forgotten since the new acquisitions, contrary to what was said would happen at the time of the new acquisitions. Many people and organizations have put large amounts of time and effort into building applications using these tools. I hope that I'm mistaken, but I'm afraid I'm not.
