UKOUG call for papers

The UKOUG is having a conference in December and the call for papers for the 2007 calendar has been open for a while now. I just finished submitting an abstract through their website. This is the first submission I make to such a big conference so I don’t have too high expectations. My idea is to cover some of the authorization and authentication possibilities in the OBIEE suite. I have been tossing around the idea of a paper on the subject for a few days now and then Mark Rittmanm from Rittman Mead Consulting, suggest to me to go ahead and submit something to the UKOUG conference so the timing was good. Now I will just have to ’sit by the phone’ and see if my submission will make the cut. Again, I am not that confident for a first try, but it sure would be nice.

Hello Borkur,
I think this is a good topic to cover, there are a great number of ways to set up security within OBIEE. An interesting angle on this might be to show how to propagate authentication and row-level security from E-Busiess Suite to OBIEE.
Best regards,
Martin

Thanks for your comment Martin. I will keep that in mind, though I have never worked on an E-Business Suite installation, anywhere. Mark Rittman just posted here on the subject of row-level security. I have myself worked out some of the kinks of setting up LDAP and database hybrid of authentication and authorization for the presentation service. Then I have the idea to add some Apex application on top of that to allow for maintenance of access rights.

Great news!
Borkur on stage… I should go to UKOUG too, don’t want to miss that.
Good luck my friend,
Dimitri
