OTN Article on OBIEE and SOA
January 26th, 2008 by Mark Rittman
If anyone’s wondering why there’s been so few postings on the blog over the past couple of months, it’s mainly because I’ve been writing some longish articles for OTN and Oracle Mag on Oracle BI & data warehousing, and starting to put together presentations for the upcoming ODTUG and Collaborate conferences (oh, and doing a bit of work as well…) Anyway, I just noticed one of the OTN articles has just gone up, and it’s on Integrating Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition with Oracle SOA Suite, specifically the BPEL functionality in Oracle JDeveloper.
If you’ve come to any of my Oracle University BI Seminars over the past few months, this is the session I do on the second day where I take the Order Bookings BPEL process and plug it into the SOAP interface in Oracle BI Presentation Server. Like the recent article on OBIEE and Identity Management I’d also had published by Oracle Mag, this is a collaboration with Joel Crisp, one of the Principal Engineers working on OBIEE and the actual author of the EasyBI code example we use in the article. I’m glad the article is out now as this was probably the part of the seminar that got the most interest, I’ll be interested to hear how people get on with the code now that it’s also available for download on OTN.
Anyway, back to my writing now … I’m just putting the finishing touches to an in-depth Essbase article, then it’s on to my Collaborate’08 paper on Real-Time Decisions.

Jules,
No problem, glad it was (will be?) useful. Bear in mind with the EasyBI code that it’s only “sample code”, it doesn’t handle security properly for example so it’s not production ready. It’s a good intro though to the SOAP interface in the BI Presentation Server.
cheers, Mark
