Hi Mark,
great post!
Concerning your issue with the derived measure, a possible solution in the RPD is to do the calculation on the physical table. You create a new logical column but do not check "Use existing logical columns as the source". Then you go to the tab Data Type and double click on the respective logical table source. When you open Expression Builder for the respective column, you can see, that you have access to the physical columns. Once you finished, you will notice, that the Aggregation tab for the new measure is not greyed out anymore, hence you can make your choice for the appropriate aggregation. If you need columns from other tables, e.g. a dimension , for your expression, then you need to join this table in the table source of the logical fact table. I hope this works also for your current version.
Best regards

Mark,

It is very much supported to upgrade BI SE1 from 10.1.3.2 to the latest release (as long as we stick to windows and are using the same server - <= 2 Procs). Unfortunately, we do not have any supporting docs for that. As far as i know, the PM for BI SE1, Mike is working on a metalink note to make clarifications on the upgrades.
