Sridhar&#039;s comment on meta metadata is exactly right. At create table time Oracle has enough information which it then saves to create any partition it needs</description>

		<description>About Interval parition, We are not going to see all the possible partitions (1 million?) created in the Oracle views. But segments are created when new data is loaded.  Therefore metadata for all the paritions should be there to create segment when the data for that partition is loaded.  It is about what you consider as &quot;metadata&quot; - that is meta metadata!.</description>
