Has Anyone Got EPM 11.1.1 Workspace and OBIEE Working Completely?
December 15th, 2008 by Mark Rittman
The other week I blogged about the integration between EPM Workspace 11.1.1.1 and OBIEE 10.1.3.4, and I said at the time that firstly, I couldn’t get single sign-on working between the two application and secondly, there was no way to create new reports, dashboard prompts and so on within the Workspace product.
The thing is, I just took a look at this new Oracle by Example tutorial and it does appear that more integration is possible; specifically, the “New” menu gets extended so that you can create new Answers reports, prompts and so on, which is not something that I can see on my installation.

Also, you can access the Web Catalog from the EPM Workspace, again something I assumed wasn’t possible as my installation didn’t offer this option on the “Open” menu.

So, it looks a lot more functional that I though, especially if you can get single sign-on working between Shared Services and OBIEE. The question is though, has anyone managed to get this working? I’ve played around with this for several weeks now, following the instructions in the New Features Guide and installing and re-installing everything several times, on Windows XP and now Windows Server 2003, but I’ve never seen these new menu items appear, and I’ve never managed to get single sign-on working with Shared Services.
Does anyone know how to do this, and can shed any light on how to make it all work? Let me know if you do, the Oracle by Example instructions unfortunately start off with “Make sure you integrate the products first of all”, which doesn’t really help. I’ve also asked a few people within Oracle but no-one can get it working for me. If someone has figured it out I’ll update the blog with the details.

Hi Mark,
Good question. I saw this working on the machines of some Oracle sales guys. Alas they couldn’t give me the exact details on how to achieve it and I haven’t managed here either.
Would be good, if you post the solution once it’s been found
Cheers,
C.

Hi Mark,
I’ve got SSO working here and the extra menu items you seem to be missing. OBIEE is using oc4j and EPM is on tomcat.
Make sure you register both presentation services and publisher with EMP Workspace.
Also to get SSO to work I had to set the following in OracleBI\web\javahost\config\config.xml:
oracle.bi.server.customauthenticatorimpl.hyperioncss.HyperionCSSAuthenticator
http://vm-11-111:28080/interop/framework/getCSSConfigFile
no
C:\OracleBIData\web\log
no
no
obips.hss.ssotoken
Note use CSSURL is set to no.
There was no need to add the JVMOptions tag as indicated in the docs. It seems to work without it. Hopefully this should help. If not I’m creating a doc which I can fwd if you wish.
Cheers,
Gee

oops, the tags have been stripped from the post. It should read:
-ClassName-oracle.bi.server.customauthenticatorimpl.hyperioncss.HyperionCSSAuthenticator-/ClassName-
-ClassConfig-
-cssURL-http://vm-11-111:28080/interop/framework/getCSSConfigFile-/cssURL-
-useCSSURL-no-/useCSSURL-
-logFolder-C:\OracleBIData\web\log-/logFolder-
-cssDebug-no-/cssDebug-
-processAdministrator-no-/processAdministrator-
-ssoTokenPassword-obips.hss.ssotoken-/ssoTokenPassword-
-/ClassConfig-
I’ve replaced the tag characters with hyphens, hopefully it should work…

Hi Guillaume,
Thanks for the above. If you have this document, I’d be pleased to take a look at it. If you get a chance, send it to mark.rittman@rittmanmead.com

Mark, thank you for the information here. We currently have System 9. I wonder if you know what extra costs are involved in getting the OBIEE modules if we ugrade to EPM 11.1.1.
Thanks again,
