Mark,

Do you think Informatica would be a good acquisition target for Oracle?

@Sandeep
Impact on Netezza was my first thought as well. Talked with a Netezza PM a couple weeks back and like their position and roadmap. The big question is can a Sun/DW/OBIEE appliance be as fast and nimble as Netezza? Can the Sun guys educate on performance to optimize DW/Analytics solutions on their hardware?

Will be interesting, very interesting.

Even as an externality of the whole deal, I think, the DW appliance area will get very interesting. Oracle analytics + Sun (Greenplum) could perhaps be positioned as a strong competitor against Netezza + SAS and Teradata + SAS for in-line analytics.

I hadn't thought of the user group and conference scenario, but that is right on. Open World is almost too big now, with very limited capacity in the city when it hits. Add in another huge customer base, and you might as well split the event into 2 tracks at different times, or as you said- go to Vegas. Sun's JavaOne conference gets a very large audience and that is just part of Sun's portfolio, although a huge one. As of now, I am sure there are plenty of Java developers that never attended an Oracle User group..but did attend Java groups. That will change, meaning another conference or something creative.
