I've managed to build the BM and have no consistency errors but when I try to query the aggregated description column along with the standard description I get an error that the SQL preparation has failed as a column (it doesn't say which) is not a single-group function. If I try to run the second query from your log directly against the database I get the same error. My function looks identical to yours and works if I don't try to return any other column from CHANNELS. Is this something you've come across? I've got 10g installed on Vista.
Thanks.

Hi, I'm trying to replicate your approach two but I'm having difficulty creating the logical column CHANNEL_DESC_AGG. I've brought across the two standard columns and can paste the EVALUATE function into the Expression Builder for the new logical column but I get an 'Invalid Expression' error when I hit OK. If I double click the CHANNELS table on the Data Type tab I can paste the definition into the expression column but this clears the physical table column and so I get a consistency error. Can you tell me where I'm going wrong? Thanks

Interesting solution Venkat, hopefully Requests that use EVALUATE will be able to be cached by the BI Server in a future release!
