Rittman Mead BI Forum 2010 Round-Up
May 24th, 2010 by Mark Rittman
Well it’s the Monday after the week of the BI Forum in Brighton, and as promised here are some photos, and a link to the presentations, for anyone that couldn’t make it. The three days went very well, starting with the Masterclass by Kurt Wolff on OBIEE repository and reporting design approaches.

After Kurt’s session on day 1, the main session then carried on during days 2 and 3, and here’s the links to the presentations we were able to publish (most of the Oracle ones, as they covered future functionality, unfortunately can’t be made available outside of the event):
- Robin Moffatt, Morrisons – “Performance Testing OBIEE”
- Elio Idema, Oracle Corporation – “Complex Modeling with OBIEE 11g”
- Emiel van Bockel, Centraal Boekhuis, “The art of modeling with OBIEE”
- Antony Heljula, Peak Indicators “BI EE Architectures and Sizing”
- Mark Rittman, Rittman Mead “Inside the Oracle BI Server”
- John Minkjan, Ciber “OBIEE Customizations: When you are in the kitchen, learn to cook.”
- Venkat Janakiraman, Rittman Mead “Fusion Middleware 11g – ADF Business Intelligence Components”

There were also a number of excellent blog posts and round-ups after the event (as well as lots of #biforum tweets), and here’s a selection of the ones that I’ve come across – let me know if I’ve missed any:
- Robin Moffatt (@rnm1978) : “RittmanMead BI Forum 2010″, “My First Presentation – Afterthoughts”, “Performance Testing and OBIEE”
- Christian Berg (@Nephentur) : “Rittman Mead BI Forum 2010″
- Alex Hansal (@lex) : “BI Forum Brighton 2010″, “BI Forum Brighton 2010 Day 1″, “BI Forum 2010 Day 2″, “BI Forum Brighton 2010 Day 3″
- John Minkjan (@JohnMinkjan) : “OBIEE Brighton 2010″
- Daan Bakboord (@DaanBakboord) : “RittmanMead BI Forum 2010 – Notes 1″, “RittmanMead BI Forum 2010 – Notes II”, “RittmanMead BI Forum 2010 – Notes III”

Congratulations also to Robin Moffatt, who won the award for best presentation of the BI Forum. Considering that this was Robin’s first ever presentation, and to a very technical audience, this is an incredible achievement and very well deserved. We’re looking forward already to Robin’s presentation next year!

Finally, I’ve uploaded a set of photos from the event to this set on Flickr. Take a look if you’re interested, and also check out the blogs above for more photos and details on the sessions.

Keep an eye out on this blog for details of our next event, which will be a hands-on OBIEE 11g Training Days event that’ll run on consecutive weeks in the UK and the USA, probably around October. Thanks again to everyone that made it down to Brighton, and hopefully we’ll see some of you again in either October or next May, for the BI Forum 2011.

Hi Mark/Jon and all the team at Rittman Mead…
just wanted to add a very public THANK YOU and congratulations on a well organized event. It has been great to meet everyone.
Hope I’ll be accepted for a presentation next year. Feel I should contribute after giving some presenters a bit of a hard time.
Looking forward to the next one!
Anyone not attending this event REALLY should be.
Thanks again,
Justin

Hi Mark,
Great to meet you at the event. Want to congratulate everyone involved in the organisation as the whole event was superb and I’ve really learnt a lot.
Will you be putting the KW Masterclass slides up on the blog also?
Cheers,
Phil

Hi Phil, thanks for this.
Unfortunately we can’t put Kurt’s slides up on the website – he’ll be using them for future events and doesn’t want them publically available for download. The packs you got at the event have got the printed copies though.
thanks
Mark
