UKOUG BIRT SIG Agenda : 31st January 2006, London
We've just finalised the agenda for the January 31st UKOUG Business Intelligence & Reporting Tools SIG and if I say so myself, I think it's about the best one we've ever put together. We've managed to get Oracle's Kevin "Mr. OLAP" Lancaster to do two presentations on OLAP tips and techniques, together with "from the trenches" presentations by Jeff Moss, Donna Kelly and David Walker - three very experienced independent consultants - and for the comedy interlude, a presentation by yours truly on XML Publisher. Here's the agenda:
- 09:30 : Registration and Coffee
- 10:00 : Introductions and Welcome - Mark Rittman
- 10:05 : 5 Years with OWB: what works and what doesn t - Donna Kelly, Independent Consultant
- 10:50 : Oracle XML Publisher: what's it all about? - Mark Rittman, SolStonePlus
- 11:35 : Enhancing the analytic content of your AW : Behind The Calc Builder - Kevin Lancaster, Oracle Corp.
- 12:45 : Lunch
- 13:30 : Five Tuning Tips For Your Data Warehouse - Jeff Moss, Independent Consultant (read Jeff's blog here...)
- 14:15 : Process Neutral Data Warehouse Modelling : David Walker, Data Management Ltd.
- 15:00 : Coffee
- 15:15 : SQL Access to multidimensional data in Oracle : What it means, and how you do it - Kevin Lancaster, Oracle Corp.
- 16:00 : AOB, Close - Mark Rittman
It's a pretty packed schedule and as I said we've got some pretty good speakers (myself excepted of course). I'm particularly looking forward to Jeff's first presentation, as I'm sure is Jonathan Lewis who'll be in the audience and is kindly giving us a copy of his new "Cost-Based Oracle" book as a competition prize ;-) If you're also one of those people who complain that every Oracle OLAP presentation is just about the basics, you'll also not want to miss Kevin's two talks, who'll be giving us the benefit of some of the skills he's picked up on presales engagements around the EMEA region. Anyway, as usual the places will probably get booked up fairly quickly so if you're a UKOUG member and you want to come along, register on the UKOUG website and I'll see you next month.
