New BI-Related Papers and Downloads On OTN

I noticed the other day that a number of new BI-related papers and downloads have gone up recently on OTN.

"New Features and Performance Enhancements in Oracle OLAP 10g Release 2" goes into a bit more detail on new 10gR2 features such as measure compression, partitioning and new SQL access enhancements, and will be useful reading if you followed my blog postings earlier this year (here, here and here) when this new release became available. If you're interested in Oracle OLAP 10gR2 this paper for the Collaborate'06 conference might also be of interest.

Staying on the subject of Oracle OLAP, the development team have released this set of DBA SQL scripts that can be used to establish the size of all analytic workspaces, track wait events, establish PGA usage, amongst other things. The paper I linked to above uses a few of these scripts; this new download expands on those and adds a few more.

Moving on to Oracle Business Intelligence Suite now, there's a Business Intelligence Strategy and Roadmap document now available for download, together with a technical white paper called "Oracle BI Suite Enterprise Edition Technical Overview" which is about the only official document I can find that goes into the architecture of Enterprise Edition. Up until now, the only official documentation is the PDFs that come with the Enterprise Edition download, and as these are more of a reference than a concepts guide (Siebel Analytics was usually installed by Siebel consultants, not customers, hence the lack of end-user focused documents), therefore it's good to see something like this come out. No doubt when the Maui release comes out (end of 2006? Q1 2007?) this will be when full documentation and how-to guides come out, but until then, the white paper is a good technical overview of the platform.
