Seasons Greetings from Rittman Mead

Well the presents are wrapped, the trees are decorated, snow has been falling and it's nearly time for Christmas. In a couple of days time we'll be taking a well-earned rest for a few days and celebrating with our families and friends around the world. Even though with the snow in the UK it's perhaps been a little too Christmassy around here, it's great to get a few days off and also have a think about what we've got planned for the New Year.

A week or so ago we announced additional dates for our OBIEE 11g Training Days event, with places now available in Atlanta, Brussels, Bangalore and Johannesburg in February and March. If your New Year's resolution is to run an OBIEE 11g pilot in your office once you get back after the break, this is an excellent chance to get hands-on experience with the new release and get tips and tricks from myself, Stewart, Venkat and Borkur. Drop us a line at [email protected] if you want to reserve a place.

We've got lots of other things planned for 2011, including the Oracle BI Forum event we "curate" each year in Brighton (and which, if all goes to plan, we may end up taking to the States the week after); lots of blog posts following the OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.4 release which we're hoping will arrive around March or April next year; a few of us are presenting at events such as RMOUG Training Days 2011, Collaborate'11, ODTUG Kaleidoscope 2011 and various UKOUG events around the UK.

For myself though, probably the most important thing that's happening in 2011 is that I'm finally getting down to writing the Oracle BI Developers' Handbook for Oracle Press (even though it's apparently written and available for download on bitttorrent...), with the plan being to write the fourteen chapters over the twelve months of 2011, with colleagues assisting and with Oracle's Mike Durran as technical editor. It's going to be a busy twelve months, but hopefully come December we'll have the book "in the bag" and in the shops shortly after.

Other than that, it's only for me to say "Happy Holidays", "Happy Christmas" and "Seasons Greetings" from all of us at Rittman Mead in the UK, USA and India, have a great holiday break and we'll see you all in January 2011.
